SONG POSSIBLITIES

the song has a predominant beat throughout which we plan to time our clips to. And also has a section in which the beat changes and is more noticeable which we plan to put clips to. there is a part in the song in which Katy sings a long note,and then Carry's on singing on top, we hope to film a bit of Emma singing the long note and then over the top cut in sections of her singing the lyrics.

STORYLINE IDEAS

Casino scenes- Emma playing on a fruit machine
Brighton scenes- Emma on a dodgem in a glamorous dress, slow the clips down and play around with effects, we think this clip would go well with the line 'why are these lights so bright'
Money scenes- Emma throws money into the air, then we have the options in the editing stage to slow it down, reverse, and play around with the clip.
Sunglasses scene/lipstick scene- Emma's lipstick and glasses change colour which will be applied to the strong beat that occurs near the first chorus.
Wedding dress scenes- scenes of Emma in a wedding dress in a fast food restaurant- implying her hungover just married state
Glamorous scenes-Its not a music video without scenes with the singer looking beautiful and dolled up, which is all part of the sex appeal which producers use to sell records. Not to sure on how this clip will be arranged yet.
Colorful scenes- to go with the musics fun vibe we will have scenes of bright color,which contrast with the colour of the previous scene.

IDEA'S & CAST

We have an idea to go to brighton To film some of the music video scenes, were thinking that the bright lights and vibrancy of the town will make our music video fit to the song.

For our video we only really require one person, as the whole focus is going to be on the singer.
Emma Bryson shall be playing the role of lead singer ( or Katy Perry)
Marc Addlesee is set to play the mysterious pig masked husband.
 I (Aimee Cleaver) shall be involved in filming and editing, And as an extra shall i be needed.
Sally Forder also shall be filming and editing, and available to appear on camera if needed.

FURTHER REASERCH - PREVIOUS A2

After looking into youtube videos of a2 music videos we can see what is possible with our camera, a reasonable budget,and props and locations.A2 music videos turn out better than we expected, with similar resources to ours it is possible that we can create an aesthetically good music video, the cameras we have access to aren't of the greatest quality, but with the use of the media departments macs we should be able to brighten the colors and fiddle around with the effects to give the look of industry manufactured music videos.

This is an A2 Music video, it is to the song Hot n Cold by Katy Perry. The students have used the songs beat to there advantage and timed the clips accordingly so they complement the song. We like the story they've used behind this as it works well with their available equipment and locations. We also like this video as it gives us a sense of what we can achieve as we feel they had access to similar equipment and locations we do.

This is also an A2 music video, accept these students used adobe shop pro to edit their video. This shows, as this music is incredible, far more impressive than those you see on the TV. It does show that top quality videos are possible at A2.

We don't want our video to start looking to much like the official video so we keep check to make sure our ideas arnt already in the video ( as there is possibility's we may subconsciously pinch ideas, yet feel as though they are our own)

KATY PERRY

We have decided to use katy perry as the songwriter for our music video, we choose her as we like the beat and variety of her songs, also her music is quite fun so we could do alot with her songs, and we already have ideas flowing, we havent decided what song were doing, its between waking up in vegas and teenage dream.

SONG SELECTION

We are currently choosing between two artists, eaither Katy Perry Waking up in Vegas and Just dance by Lady GaGa.

Katy Perry and Lady GaGa are both know for  their fun music and controversial lyrics, we feel it would be fun to direct a music video to a song by theese artists, we could use colour and fun clips. we can also be out there with what we film as the lyrics and tempo of the song alow for this.

MUSICIAN RESERCH

We've come to the stage in which we must decide which song we want to use to make a music video with. We looked into different genres, particularly ones which we feel will make the best music videos (in the style we wanted). Based on this fact we decided to choose from a selection of our favourite songs. But instead one that would make a good video, and by that i mean that the song would require a good tempo, good beats, and sections which we could use film and editing to get codes and conventions across and also which we could use to impress the examiner by showing our editing skills.

Reaserch- VMAs

on watching a music video award show, i noticed that the music videos that won the awards were the one that go outside the borders, I also noticed they captured and held the audiences intrest through frequently changing angles,and contrasting scenes.

RESEARCH

After spending hours upon hours watching MTV one, two, three, and base -although i was sure that i wouldn't follow in that genre, i still wanted to check the forms and conventions more up tempo club tunes followed, i found that with the slower ballads the videos were more about setting shots and close ups, all of which were dragged out for long seconds (5-6 seconds per frame) and almost always had a storyline. For songs that were released from movie soundtracks they usually involved scenes from movies they were taken from. the lower budget music videos generally just involved different angles of the singer singing there song, usually in a nice room or in a pretty location, they didn't tend to involve change of scenes or clothes, or much fancy editing/ filters/airbrushing. In the more high budget music videos there seems to be anything up to 10 changes of scenes and clothes ( in Lady GaGa-Just dance she has 7 outfit changes,and features 18 different scenery changes) I also noticed a trend in which pop videos tended to not feature the band, or show signs of music being created by instruments. In rock videos they sometimes like to use people that arnt there and dress quirky. I really like the look of Katy perry videos as there so fun, although evidently high budget.

This is Lady GaGa's just dance music video, in the video she is supposedly at a 'party' (following the theme of the lyrics) The song is upbeat, thus there is alot of scene changes, clothing changes and short clips. The costumes and mise en scene match the mood of the song (which is pop and upbeat) Props used relate to the song for example a large cup, glitter glasses.

THE BEGINNING

Its the end of the AS year and we've just been informed that our ALEVEL media task can be chosen from a list, including choices in print, gaming, web design and film. after forming groups with people that i have worked well with other previous years, and people that i haven't necessarily worked with through my media a level but have known will provide good skills. And are reliable for the creation of the final product. From the list is wasn't hard to make a decision as to what task we would be creating, as we had been planning this music video since we began media in year 10. The other options included web design, newspaper creation and electronic gaming design. Ive always done film as its what i feel I'm good at, i see the way an idea can be filmed in my head and then try my best to recreate that idea through filming and editing.
